Ski & Sail Season 2025 we have a lot of trips planned in Sunnmøre Alps.
The dates are set and open for booking
Join us in hunting for the best snow in Norway. We sail out from Aalesund for mountain hikes in majestic surroundings. We enjoy good food, have a lot of fun with people who share the same passion for the outdoor wildlife , and return 5 days later to Aalesund with loaded memory bank. Where we sail and which mountain peaks we go to, is based of the current snow conditions and weather forecasts.
Since we sail and pick up our guests by the fjord, we can climb even better mountains. We pretty much get the mountains and the landscape to ourselves. The Sunnmøre Alps is one of the most beautiful areas for ski touring in Norway. White-clad mountains plunge into the deep fjords, and from the mountain tops you can enjoy panoramas of alpine peaks and glaciers, and beautiful fjords view. After a day full of fun skiing, you can spend the evening at the flybrige on Dreamcatcher and enjoy the beautiful sunset.
We start the day with a good breakfast, you make packed lunches to take with you on the trip, and plan the day with the local ski guide. Together with Dreamcatcher and the guide, you are in good hands. Safety is given great attention. Skilled guides, good equipment and focus on safety are crucial for the summit trip to be successful. Our ski guides know local weather, wind conditions and knows where and how the snow settles. When you don`t have to worry about safety, you can enjoy the mighty Sunnmore alps, the untouched nature and the fresh air. With the boat we sail off into the fjords and wild mountains, and get around to peaks that are off the beaten track.we

What skill level is required on the trip?
Different experience levels are welcome to join our tours. To create the best experience for you and your group, we tailor trips that are adapted to the group`s wishes and requirements. A prerequisite for participating in our ski & sail trips, and get the most out of your trip, is it an advantage that you are used to using your skiing equipment, and that you have reasonably good skiing skills. And you must be in good shape, ready to climb around 1400 altitude meters 4 days in a row. You need to be social and like to live close with other people.
Adventure program and itinerary
It begins and ends in the beautiful harbour Brosundet in Aalesund. From Vigra Airport Aalesund you can either take the shuttle bus or a taxi. It takes about 20-30 min. We sail from the harbor on Wednesday evening 18:00. The program below is an overview of what the tour might look like. Our guests and their ski skills, recommendations from the guides based on the current snow conditions and upcoming weather forecasts, can impact the program.
Wednesday - meeting day
- Dronning Sonja plass
Meeting point is at the guest harbor Brosundet in Aalesund. You must be in the harbor Wednesday evening between 15-18:00. When everyone are well on board we go true safety instructions. Then we set sail and head against to our first destination already Wednesday night. That means we get more time in the mountains the next day. We serve dinner at the boat in the evening during sailing to the destination. If you arrive Aalesund early at Wednesday, the town have a lot of good restaurants, cafes and a lot of things to explore nearby the harbor. You can leave your luggage on the boat before you go for a hike. One of the most popular things to explore: take the 418 stairs up to Aksla. Here you will have a fantastic view of the city of Aalesund and the surrounding area, and even see some of the mountains you soon will explore.
Thursday - Nordre Sætretind 1365 m.a.s.l.
Breakfast will be served at 07:30, and you make your lunch for the upcoming expedition. The guide comes on board around 08:30 and we take a short briefing. We take of to Nordre Sætretind, a great peak with outstanding view from the top, and a fantastic long downhill skiing. All planned summit hikes will of course be continuously revised based on snow conditions and local weather forecasts. Safety will always comes first. After the summit hikes, the dinner will be served and we set sail to the next destination Sæbø. Here you can enjoy the evening in the sauna and a cold swim in the fjord.
Friday - Skårasalen 1542 m.a.s.l.
Skårasalen is one of the best mountains for summit skitouring. Most skiers go up and down the same line, but since we sail, we can climb up from Sæbø and enjoy a never ending run all the way down to the fjord in Skår. This is a fantastic experience with magnificent view of Hjørundfjorden and the Sunnmøre alps. Back to the boat we take a warm shower, set sail and cross the fjord to the old farm Christian Gaard. Here we grab some beers and an excellent handcrafted burger made with meat from local deer.
Saturday - Randers Top 1414 m.a.s.l
Randers Topp is Sunnmøre at its best. The skitour start at sea level and go through wild nature. The route up the valley is in moderate terrain and this is also the most fun part when skiing back down to the fjord. Depending on snow conditions the push to the steep summit is most often ascended on foot. Crampons and ice axe are recommended. The view is stunning with backdrop of the spiniest mountains of the region and the blue fjord below.
After the skitour dinner will be served on the boat. After dinner you can either hang out at the boat, take more sauna an swim in the fjord, or go for afterski at some of the local bars and have some fun this last evening.
Sunday - Trandalshatten 1220m.a.s.l.
Last day and the last summit trip. Trandalshatten lies in the middel of the heart of Hjørundfjorden and Sunnmøre Alps, and gives you the best view of the fjord. The mountain got its name because from the fjord Trandalshatten – Trandals Hat, it looks like, yes – a hat. The mountain offers beautiful descent.
The chef will serve you a light dinner while we sail back to Aalesund. We aim to be in Aalesund no later than 18:00 so everyone will catch their planes back home.
